Oroblù Launches Bio-Sneaker Tights with The LYCRA Company

Oroblù partners with The Lycra Company for bio-derived sneaker tights

London, December 06, 2025

Italian hosiery brand Oroblù has launched bio-derived sneakers tights in partnership with The LYCRA Company, introducing a product made with LYCRA® EcoMade fiber derived primarily from industrial corn. The tights became available online in November 2025, with physical retail sales planned for September 2026, underscoring a shift toward sustainability in fashion materials.

Material Innovation

The core of this collaboration is the use of LYCRA® EcoMade fiber, an elastomer composed of 70% renewable plant-based ingredients. This fiber is created through fermenting glucose extracted from corn starch, replacing fossil-based components typically used in manufacturing elastic textiles. The innovation significantly reduces the carbon footprint associated with hosiery production while preserving performance attributes.

Product Features

The bio-sneakers tights are designed for casual use paired with sneakers. They incorporate a reinforced knit structure in the shoe region to enhance durability and fit. Despite the environmental focus, the product maintains the elasticity, comfort, and durability standards traditionally expected from Oroblù and LYCRA® fibers, ensuring no compromise on wearability.

Launch Details

These tights were introduced online on Oroblù’s official website in late November 2025. The brand has scheduled their availability in physical retail outlets for September 2026, marking a staggered release that targets different sales channels.

Sustainability Commitment

In addition to utilizing bio-based fiber, Oroblù adopted sustainable packaging materials, including recycled plastic and FSC-certified recycled paper. This reflects a comprehensive approach to reducing environmental impact, extending beyond product materials to packaging choices, aligning with the company’s broader commitment to responsible innovation in fashion.

Strategic Partnership

The LYCRA Company highlighted the importance of collaborative supply chains in accelerating the market introduction of sustainable textile innovations. This partnership combines environmental sustainability with product performance, demonstrating how joint efforts can yield eco-conscious products without sacrificing quality.

Corporate Perspectives

Carlo Bertoni, CEO of CSP International Fashion Group, noted that the introduction aligns with the group’s mission centered on responsible innovation and sustainability. Alistair Williamson, Vice President of EMEA & South Asia at The LYCRA Company, emphasized that the product balances eco-friendliness with the performance attributes consumers expect from high-quality hosiery.

The launch of these bio-derived sneakers tights signals a notable progression in sustainable hosiery development. It underscores how premium fashion brands can integrate plant-based elastomers to reduce environmental impact while preserving essential functional qualities, positioning Oroblù at the forefront of low-carbon footprint legwear innovation within the global fashion sector.
