Taiwan has imposed a one-year ban on the Chinese social media app RedNote effective immediately, citing widespread fraud and cybersecurity threats. The move affects approximately 3 million users and responds to financial losses reported since early 2024 exceeding $7.9 million linked to scams on the platform.

The Taiwanese Ministry of the Interior revealed that over 1,700 scam cases connected to RedNote have been reported across the island since 2024, leading to significant financial damage.
